Activates osteocalcin, directing calcium into bone and supporting both sides of bone maintenance
Vitamin K2-7 plays a central role in calcium metabolism and bone health. It activates osteocalcin, the protein that binds calcium into the bone matrix to strengthen mineralization, and it activates matrix Gla-protein (MGP), which keeps calcium out of arterial walls. This dual action supports both bone strength and cardiovascular health — particularly valuable for postmenopausal women, who face higher risk of bone loss and vascular stiffening.
The clinical evidence is strong: a meta-analysis of nine randomized trials (6,853 participants) found that Vitamin K2 supplementation significantly increased bone mineral density in the spine and forearm, lowered undercarboxylated osteocalcin (a marker of poor bone calcium binding), and raised active osteocalcin levels.
Though best known for skeletal health, K2-7 also indirectly supports sleep in postmenopausal women. By keeping calcium properly directed and preventing arterial stiffening — which is linked to nighttime blood pressure fluctuations — it helps maintain stable overnight cardiovascular function, an increasingly recognized contributor to uninterrupted sleep and steady autonomic balance in aging women.
